Annual traffic growth rates for FAB CE States between 2018 and 2017 have reached record numbers, according to figures from the Eurocontrol Performance Review Unit, well above the upper forecasts of the agency’s Statistics and Forecast Service, STATFOR. STATFOR forecasts are used to determine target performance levels for European air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and functional airspace blocks (FABs).
The number of reported safety incidents fell between 2013 and 2017 in FAB CE airspace, despite an increase in air transport movements of around 20% over the same period.

FAB CE is moving forward with a range of technical cooperative programmes aimed at reducing costs and increasing efficiency through aligning procurement programmes and optimising the use of systems already deployed.
The FAB CE CEO committee meeting held on 16 October 2018 expressed its strong dissatisfaction with the current status and uncertainties of the Performance/Charging Regulation process and in particular the Performance Reporting Board (PRB) proposal for reporting period three (RP3) targets as being completely unrealistic given the current delay situation.
