The South East Common Sky Initiative Free Route Airspace (SECSI FRA) with FAB CE ANSPs Austro Control, BHANSA, Croatia Control and Slovenia Control together with SMATSA has won this year’s Single European Sky Award in the category network performance. This is a major success for the project and a recognition for the significant progress being made.
FAB CE will have a major presence at this year’s World ATM Congress in Madrid (12-14 March). FAB CE’s activities will be highlighted with video and other information material at the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic (ANS-CR) stand (#885) with representatives on hand to discuss projects and future plans. Other FAB CE information material will be available on the HungaroControl (#335) and Croatia Control (#1157) stands.
At the start of March 2019 the seven air navigation service providers (ANSPs) of FAB CE will finalise their common approach to meeting the requirements for Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) training required by European Commission Regulation 2017/373, the “Air Traffic Management Common Requirements Implementing Regulation” (ATM IR), which comes into effect on 2 January 2020.
On January 30-31, 18 representatives from Ministries of Transport, National Supervisory Authorities and Air Navigation Service Providers representing 6 FABs (BALTIC FAB, BLUE MED, DANUBE, DK-SW, FAB CE, FABEC) met in Roma Ciampino, Italy, for the “3rd Inter-FAB Performance Workshop”.
Annual traffic growth rates for FAB CE States between 2018 and 2017 have reached record numbers, according to figures from the Eurocontrol Performance Review Unit, well above the upper forecasts of the agency’s Statistics and Forecast Service, STATFOR. STATFOR forecasts are used to determine target performance levels for European air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and functional airspace blocks (FABs).
