The Functional Airspace Blocks (FABs) of Europe gathered in Budapest this week for the first full-scale in-person InterFAB Forum since the pandemic, signaling a determined relaunch of InterFAB cooperation.
Hosted by HungaroControl at its headquarters, the two-day event brought together senior leaders and experts from FAB CE, FABEC, DANUBE FAB, BALTIC FAB and BLUE MED to address shared challenges and shape the future of European air traffic management.
Key topics discussed during the event:
- The role of FABs in the future
- A dedicated panel on policy and regulatory matters allowed participants to exchange views on how FABs can best position themselves in the evolving SES architecture
- Operational matters, with particular focus on the demonstration and future rollout of Operational Dashboard tools
Participants reaffirmed that effective regional cooperation through the Functional Airspace Blocks remains indispensable for delivering defragmentation, cost-efficiency, capacity, and environmental performance – the four key performance areas of SES.
