ANS CR hosted FAB CE CEOs or their representatives from all FAB members in Prague on the 11th March for the latest CEO Committee meeting. A wide range of issues facing our region were on the agenda including mid-term and long-term discussions to develop a framework for capacity improvement.
Four key discussion items were brought forth during the session:
- Capacity and Dynamic Sectorisation: A special task force reported on their task to explore dynamic cross-border sectorisation to address capacity issues during peak days. The task force is working on identifying unused capacity that could be dynamically shared across borders to alleviate delays during peak traffic periods.
- Traffic Forecast: The summer season will be fast upon us and as a result the traffic will increase. The current traffic forecast for the upcoming summer season indicates a significant increase that will need to be supported by FAB CE.
- Technical and Safety Discussions: There were various technical and safety topics, including the importance of maintaining primary radar data, the impact of GNSS jamming and spoofing, and the need for consistent CPDLC usage to enhance capacity.
- HR and Training Benchmarking: The HR subcommittee presented findings from the ATCO training benchmarking activity, highlighting differences in training durations and success rates among ANSPs. During the discussion recommendations were identified to improve the training process.
