FAB CE technical experts meet to discuss SWIM deployment

Technical experts from FAB CE air navigation service providers (ANSPs) and partner ATM organisations met in Prague on 5 October 2022 to discuss challenges and solutions to meeting the December 2025 deadline for implementing system wide implementation management (SWIM).

ANSPs shared experiences of implementing SWIM infrastructure and services; identified gaps in deployment programmes and Commission Implementing Regulation (CP1) compliance; and discussed potential ANSP bilateral dependencies resulting from specific services.

“All FAB CE States covered by the SDP/CP1 have started implementation programmes and intend to deploy SWIM infrastructure and services in compliance with the CP1 target deployment date,” said Jakub Klikac of the FAB CE Programme Support Office.

The workshop heard SWIM programme presentations by experts from Eurocontrol and the SESAR Deployment Manager. FAB CE ANSPs representatives agreed to highlight to senior colleagues the urgency of actions in the SWIM domain and propose joining Pan-European specialist groups dedicated to implementing specific services. The workshop helped to identify areas of commonalities among FAB CE ANSPs, said delegates, but there were still outstanding issues which needed to be opened, including service definitions, role of European Aeronautical Database (EAD) and potential use of available funding to cover future implementation expenses.
