A FAB CE NSAs Workshop on ATM Security Oversight, initiated by the FAB CE NSA Coordination Committee, took place in Prague dated 20-21 February 2018 and was chaired and hosted by the Civil Aviation Authority Czech Republic with kind support of Eurocontrol.

The goal of the workshop was mainly to exchange information and share best practices in regards to ATM Security oversight and to discuss the future requirements. The participants’ emphasis was focused to the important phenomena such as Cyber Security. The application of standards (e.g. ISO 27001) and possible future use of security certificates were discussed as well. The participants (NSA AT, NSA BiH, NSA CZ, NSA SK, NSA SI, NSA MNE, ECTL, GOV-CERT.CZ) went through four discussion blocks (Current ATM SEC requirements, Implementation of ATM SEC oversight, Future ATM SEC requirements and Summary), where the ATM Security scene was presented and discussed.

EUROCONTROL experts played essential role within the workshop when describing the whole picture of information and data security in the aviation sector, as well as the challenges for ATM/ANS providers and competent authorities in the near future. Experts from participating NSAs presented their viewpoints and recommendations for future improvement. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the interesting information presented during the workshop and it should be mentioned that the professionalism and expert approach of all participants contributed to the fruitful discussions and information exchange among participated NSAs in the matter of ATM Security oversight.

The participants agreed on the workshop outcomes to be taken note in future when planning and performing oversight of Security Management Systems at ATM/ANS services providers. It is also participants’ common view that the information and data security including cybersecurity are important current and future challenges for all involved stakeholders.
