FAB CE traffic forecast for strong rebound during summer months

Air traffic is set for a strong rebound among the seven FAB CE States during June and July 2021, according to the most recent six-week Eurocontrol forecasts, with traffic levels predicted to average around 72% of 2019 levels by the start of August.

Traffic levels have been growing steadily in the region since Spring this year, when aircraft numbers were around 70% lower among FAB CE States between March 2021 and March 2019, making this area of Europe the hardest hit, in terms of aviation activity, of any region in the continent (https://www.fab-ce.eu/news-media/news/256-impact-of-covid-19-hits-fab-ce-states-hardest-of-all-european-regions).

“These are encouraging forecasts,” said Matej Eljon, FAB CE Programme Manager and Director of FAB CE Aviation Ltd, “showing particularly strong growth among States in the South of the airspace alliance – Austria, Croatia and Slovenia - where we expect August 2021 traffic levels to be down just 14% on 2019 levels. We have to remain cautious but we believe that, especially with the availability of the European Union (EU) Digital COVID Certificate to facilitate safe free movement of citizens in the EU from the start of July, there are welcome signs of a continuing recovery in July and, we hope, beyond.
